Story

We are running the Tonbridge Half Marathon on the 23rd September 2012 to raise funds for the charity Steps which we have had first hand experience with.

Our daughter Niamh was born in January 2011 and was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia a condition which has meant that her hips were dislocated and therefore were not formed properly. Since being diagnosed she has had 2 operations, has spent 3 months in a pavlic harness and a further 3 months in a hip Spica cast. Thankfully she is now walking but she may have to have more treatment in the future.

We have experienced first-hand the fantastic support that the charity Steps offer families from the practical help of how to keep a nappy on a child with a hip Spica cast, Where to get an adapted car seat and being an understanding ear and helping you understand medical terms and procedures.
