This year I will be running the London Marathon for Cardiomyopathy UK! As well as being something I've always personally wanted to do, it's also a great excuse to raise lots of money for a great charity! 

As you may know I've recently started training to be a Cardiac Physiologist. Over the past year I have learned much about a group of heart conditions collectively known as cardiomyopathy, which is currently the leading cause of sudden death in people aged under 35. Having spoken with many cardiomyopathy patients over the past year I've gained a understanding of how scary a cardiomyopathy diagnosis is for patients and how this impacts their daily life. For this reason, bodies which aim to support patients and family members through this difficult time I believe are vital. Not in the least to allow patients to lead long and fulfilled lives, made possible by a prompt diagnosis, treatment and medical education.  

Cardiomyopathy UK is the specialist national charity for all those affected by cardiomyopathy. As well as providing this much needed support for the patient, Cardiomyopathy UK also works to better educate healthcare professionals, fund research and promote general public awareness.
