Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year will be the 5th Anniversary of my beloved Nan's death, "Nanny Helen". She died of a sudden heart attack at Heathrow airport just before she left on a family holiday to her Ireland, her homeland, leaving the whole family devastated and in shock.

We know how much she would have loved our daughter's Caitlin and Charlotte, her great grandchildren, that she sadly never got to meet. So when I saw this British Heart Foundation ride so close to home it made perfect sense for me to tackle it. I used to ride my bike when I was a teenager, once surprising her turning up at her house on my bike, some 35 miles for where we lived. I cycled back via Brighton, so clocked up about 90 miles that day! She would be proud that I've got back into riding again, though with older and stiffer legs 39 off-road miles will be more of a challenge than 90 miles to my Nan's and back!
