Danny’s 30th Birthday Marathon · 6 June 2020

Salford Lads Club was established in 1903 as a purpose built club for boys. The club has continued to provide this facility for more than 100 years. The club has over 150 members aged 10 - 19.

Story

Decided to run a marathon on my 30th birthday (6th June) as I can’t do much else with the current situation and I think it would be a good way of having something to remember... Then I can sit in my garden with a few beers..

Technically the longest I’ve ran without walking is 30k, I’ve done longer distances but always walked/ran, so this one is to be my first full marathon (26.2 mile 44k) without stopping. I will track the run on my strava app on a route il decide over the next few days.

My friend Clark has volunteered to put himself through it with me (2m distance), it will be his first aswell. Any of my running mates, feel free to complete some of it with us and give us a ring and join us for a 10k, or some distance to help me through it.

I’ve decided to try raise some money for Salford Lads Club whilst doing so, as you know myself and Clark help out in the club with the football teams, so whilst the club is quiet it will be nice to help out put a little bit back, for the local kids and the boys off the teams,  for when it gets back to normal.
