Story

Dear wonderful people

On the 8th of August I will be competing in the 2010 London Triathlon for UNICEF.

The money that I raise will support UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite Against Aids campaign. The aims of the campaign are to:

  • - Prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV, since currently only 1 in 3 HIV-positive pregnant women in low- and middle-income countries receive the medicine and care they need to free their babies from HIV.
  • - Provide treatment for children with HIV, as today there are around 2 million children with HIV.
  • - Prevent infection among young people with strategies which include peer education, voluntary HIV testing & life- skills education.
  • - Protect, care and support orphans and other children affected by HIV and AIDS.

I have entered the Olympic distance event which means swimming 1500m, cycling 40km and running 10km. It will be a challenge to say the least but all for a very worth while cause which I'm sure I'll have to remember half way through the run! I think that Unite for Children, Unite Against Aids is an amazing campaign and really want to raise as much money towards it as I can and I hugely value your support in that.
