Story
In 2010 I was diagnosed with a massive deep vein thrombosis. The blood clot completely blocked one major vein the entire length of my right leg. I was very lucky not to have had a pulmonary embolism as a result (which can be fatal). Following a course of anti coagulant treatment I then developed a further 3 deep vein thrombosis clots the following year and I am now on lifelong anti coagulant treatment because of this. It transpired that I have a blood clotting disorder which I have since discovered is called Hughes Syndrome. Founded in 2001, the Hughes Syndrome Foundation is the only UK registered charity dedicated to helping people affected by Hughes/anti phospholipid syndrome. It is obviously a very personal subject to me and I am delighted to have the opportunity to run the Brighton Marathon to raise funds to support this very worthwhile cause and to achieve a huge personal goal of mine in running a marathon and not being defeated by my condition. Any donation pledge to my page of whatever size will be much appreciated.
