Story
For Christmas this year, rather than buying me something I would actually enjoy, my younger brother, in his infinite wisdom, decided that I should suffer (strangely deciding he would also join me in the pain). So he has signed us both up to the most physically demanding challenge either of us have ever faced. A 20 mile assault course packed with 200 of the most gruelling obstacles along the way (Here's a link to check the event out http://ratrace.com/dirtyweekend2018/ ). I have managed to win the battle regards the evening though and I am pleased to say it will be a warm shower and a take away (not a cold shower and festival evening).
Given this is the biggest challenge we have faced we agreed we would try and do it for a greater good. Mental health is something very important to me and as such I am proud to say that we are raising money for CALM (The Campaign Against Living Miserably), a charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK, by offering support to any man in the UK who needs it, challenging a culture that prevents men seeking help, pushing for policy changes to better prevent suicide and supporting those bereaved by suicide. In 2015, 75% of all UK suicides were male, this needs to change.
