In September I will volunteer for 10 weeks on a development programme in Burkina Faso! This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most. I’ll be working with volunteers from Burkina Faso in a community that has specifically requested ICS’s help. 

My placement is with International Service, who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. Their goal is to support people to understand their rights - and to put them into action - so they are empowered to change their lives for the better. In Burkina Faso, this means supporting and empowering women and people with disabilities, something I will be working passionately towards on my placement. 

I need to raise £800 for International Service in order to allow them to continue to bring about positive change in developing communities where they work. You can check out their amazing work here: www.internationalservice.org

I’ll be doing various challenges and events over the coming weeks to raise money, you can keep track of what I get up to and how I get on here on my JustGiving page. Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!
