Story
Hello,
I am a 19 year old student at the University of Brighton training to be a PE teacher at secondary level.
At the University of Brighton, a charity called ‘Football for Peace’ was created. This is a charity that brings people together, many of these individuals are from underprivileged or conflict areas, resulting in the sport delivered bringing peace to communities. The following values, equality, team work, trust, respect, responsibility and leadership are promoted within Football for Peace with an aspiration to purse this through sport, enabling anyone from any background to participate.
Having passed the interviewing process and am now a member of the programme, I have been offered the opportunity to travel to Gambia in December to teach children football through the values mentioned previously. For this trip, I have to pay £950 through fundraising or own personal funds. I have therefore decided as one of my ways to raise money for this trip is to do a sponsored swim. I will be swimming 10 miles, 643 lengths in a 25m pool over the course of two days. This will be challenging for me but I know it will be for a worthy course.
If there is any way you can help me get to Gambia through a donation of any amount I would be extremely grateful. Teaching sport has been a dream of mine since I was 11 years old and the opportunity to do it in an less economically developed country will be an incredible experience for me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and take care.
