Sexual abuse is not a rarity. It is rampant in our families and communities - in every community. Still, it remains a largely taboo subject. With this in mind, over the next 5-6 months I will be running a fundraising campaign in an attempt to inform, educate and ultimately contribute towards breaking the silence that surrounds sexual violence. 

Through a range of tailored services, Safeline offers a support framework that has helped over 25,000 individuals rebuild some of what has been stolen from them through sexual assault and exploitation. Governed mainly by the passion of volunteers, the team dedicates their time to listen, assist and provide much needed emotional support, both to abuse survivors and those closest to them. Besides increasing awareness, my aim is to raise as much as I can so that this fantastic charity can continue to redirect survivors towards a position of strength, dignity and control, and actively work towards stopping these statistics from escalating.

But they need support from you to keep this up and expand their reach.

With calls to the helplines and demand for these services increasing, I'd love to get as much sponsorship as I can for this small charity that works incredibly hard to provide a ‘safe line’ when it is most needed. Any donations really will make a difference, so if you can spare the expense of a glass (or bottle) of wine, or even the odd £1 (or 5) that you’d normally put towards your mediocre meal deal, your ham (no mayo) sandwich with some overwhelmingly disappointing ready salted crisps, make an extra portion of your pasta bake tonight, stick it in a tupperware pot and get donating!!! Remember, you can put your name next to your donation to impress anyone who views this page (including me), which is definitely worth at least £1.
