Story
Hello, I'm Danny.
I'm 23, a medical student in London, and amateur triathlete. I'm also very privileged to have volunteered for Putney Samaritans for over a year now, which has been both revealing and rewarding.
Mental health problems are incredibly common, and sadly can be extremely debilitating. Whether it's something as common as depression and anxiety, or something like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, the effect on our nation's health is immense.
So, what can I do? I can give up my time to listen, and I can force my legs to do things they don't want to do. Why not both!? I've never ridden 100 miles before...but what's the worst that can happen?
What can you do? Well, you can support me to make sure what I do is worthwhile. Every little helps, and no matter how deep (or otherwise!) your pockets are, I'll appreciate every last penny.
I look forward to a time when mental health problems are freely discussed, no longer stigmatised and when there's decent, reliable support in place so that people get the care they deserve. This is just a very small step towards that journey - please help me to make it.
Thank you!
