Story
Hi all, I hope you are all well and staying safe!
During a quiet period shortly before Christmas I decided to put myself to good use and help a local charity called Menphys by delivering some Christmas presents for local children with disabilities.
The charity has helped thousands of children and their families over the years with the amazing work they do.
To create a firm foundation for their services the charity has recently
created The Menphys Hub which includes a Library, hosting Adult Learning Services, community coffee and charity shops alongside Therapy and Sensory rooms.
SO……why am I telling you all of this??
Well, the year the whole world goes into lockdown because of a
world-wide pandemic just happens to be the same year that the charity celebrated its 50th Birthday! (I think it’s fair to say the
celebrations were not what they should’ve been for such an amazing institution). This also means that they weren’t able to do the level of fundraising that’s normally required.
So, after a lot of deliberation, I have decided to raise some money for
the charity myself in the form of a 2-part challenge which will culminate with a wolfrun (a 10k run with man-made and natural obstacles that include lake swims, mud pits, ditches etc). Before that, from Monday the 18th January 2021, I will be running, rowing (machine) or cycling at least 3 miles EVERY day until the date of the Wolfrun itself - 3rd July 2021.
That will be a minimum of at least 501 miles done before the event
itself (as you are reading this, please consider that I am overweight,
asthmatic and 3 weeks away from being an 48 years old 😊😊😊)
There is no doubt I will need all your support to get through this but
most importantly Menphys need your support to be able to keep doing the amazing things that they do on a daily basis! Anything
you can give is very much appreciated.
I will keep you all updated with my progress on my social media.
Stay safe everyone and thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Your support is needed and very much appreciated.
