Story

Since 2010 East Midlands Trains and I have supported at least one major cycling event for charity each year. These have included riding London to Paris, Edinburgh to London, London to Brussels via Amsterdam,  Derby to Portsmouth, and a 3 day Lands End to John O'Groats relay; along with numerous one day sportives and Turbo based fund-raisers.

Last year a group of us were proud to participate in the British Transport Police '3 Days on the Edge' event, which saw 15 teams each take a section of the mainland UK coastline and complete the loop in just three days. As part of 'Team 8' four of us covered 311 miles from Stonehaven to Bamburgh Castle and raised over £5k for Samaritans. Other teams involving EMT/SWT riders traversed Carlisle to Southport, Gloucester to Lands End and Stonehaven to John O'Groats!

This year EMT friends and I will once again be supporting the BTP for an even more challenging event. '3 Days around the world', which will see an even larger group of cyclists average 300 miles each  to cover 25,000 in total... the equivalent of the circumference of the planet Earth!

The event will take place over three days; 29 April – 1 May 2017, and our team are looking to do our stint from London St Pancras to Aachen in Germany... via France, Belgium and Holland! Over 300 hilly miles that will take in no less than five European countries.

In addition to this, I will also be participating in the Norwich 100 on 4 June 2017 and Ride London 100 on 30 July 2017. All kitted out in full Samaritans Purple and Green Lycra :)

This ride is entirely self-funded, so every penny raised from this site will go to Samaritans. The dedicated team that we work with are a fantastic bunch. They have developed and deliver targeted training, and provide train crew the support they often need after being involved in such a traumatic event. This is all about us giving something back to them, so they can continue this valuable work. Any support you are able to provide, would be greatly appreciated :)
