Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mental Health has never featured so prominently in the media, our social media platforms and our lifes over the last 12 months. So many lost souls continue to battle this desperately solitary illness sometimes with a tragic conclusion.

Depression has no boundaries and effects millions of people. It takes no prisoners but the irony is that mental health imprisons you. It prevents you from reaching out and leaves you feeling loveless, worthless and lost. We need to encourage and push to highlight this silent enemy. We need to talk, to "check in" on each other and promote love and kindness more than ever.

For those that know me, I have been affected by depression for most of my adult life. I am extremely fortunate to have a fantastic network of friends and family but for those that have flirted with these demons can vouch that we generally don't or won't  let people close enough for us to share our despair. It is depressions ultimate defence mechanism.

So. I want to get the message out there as I turn 50 on the 26th May. How? I will run 100kms in 30 days. I appreciate that this is not exactly a Mo Farah olympian effort but for someone who is weighing in at a little over 15 stone and prefers bars to bar bells, this truly is something I am not relishing. My inspiration is for all of those  that continue to fight and for those that sadly lost their battle.

I will update my progress on a regular basis and can assure everyone there will be no cheating.

Please, please dig deep and support a truly personal cause that effects far more than you will ever know ❤

Thankyou

Darren (nearly 50 and winning)
