London 2 Paris: Inspiring the Revolution · 18 June 2015 to 22 June 2015 ·

With a new blood cancer diagnosis every 27 seconds worldwide, Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses at UK blood cancer centres, giving patients access to treatments through clinical trials. This support drives global significant advancements in blood cancer, impacting those affected by the disease.

Story

On Thursday 18th June I can't wait to join Geoff Thomas, Ian Wright, Mark Bright, John Salako, Aidy Boothroyd, George Lineker and 300 other riders in 'London 2 Paris: Inspiring the Revolution' for Cure Leukaemia.

Having never really sat on a road bike before and spending all of my career playing football, the idea of riding a bike for 500 kilometres in to France is pretty daunting...especially with just 7 weeks training!

However, this ride is all about raising £1million for Professor Charlie Craddock and his team of specialist research nurses at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the QE Hospital, Birmingham.

Cure Leukaemia is a charity that I have worked closely with over the past few years, a close friend of mine Dougie Brown is a Patron of this fantastic charity and I am also an ambassador for the Club Legends Cup football tournament which takes place on July 11th.

Football and leukaemia have been closely linked over recent years, with the likes of Geoff Thomas, Stiliyan Petrov and Joe Thompson all suffering from leukaemia plus Jody Craddock, Brad Jones and Carl Baker all having loved ones effected by this terrible disease.

I am asking all of the football community to dig deep, support me in this challenge and get behind this fantastic cause!
