We support those affected by mental illness to change mental health for good

Story

Going to have one last push on this. Have a business partner who will help move Dug around the city, & the fantastic team at Ryden will help us with siting Dug & our dealings with Glasgow Council. Poor mental health is still a major issue in our city, please support our campaign

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Along with a hundred plus friends you will have helped boost the total raised so far to over £3,000 a fantastic start to the bid to get #Dug on the streets of Glasgow in 2024.. Thank you for your support.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me and @CharitySANE. We are Over 40% of the target total! thanks to a huge response to me clearing out my football and golf commentary notes. Where there is much there is brass is still true and the £700 surge proves that to be true.

If you would like a particular game, either for yourself or a friend please let me know and I will do what I can to help. Contact me on @dadbegg on Twitter.

It has been a real privilege to have had the opportunity to cover Scottish football for you and for BBC Radio Scotland for 32 years. There have been many highs and a few lows along the way! But the lows we soon forget, while the highs stay for ever.

Spain and David Narey's "toe-poke" against Brazil started the ball rolling. Aberdeen's Glory in Gothenburg was almost as astonishing as me still commentating while being dragged to the ground by a fan at Pittodrie as the Dons came from behind to beat Bayern Munich.

Dundee United demolishing Monchengladbach 5-1 was incredible, and there were thrills galore for Rangers in 1992/3 and Celtic along the road to Seville 10 years later.

There were magic moments too for Dundee, Dunfermline, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Inverness CT, Motherwell, Ross County, St Johnstone, St Mirren, Partick Thistle, Morton, Hamilton, Falkirk, Queen of the South, Forfar, Clyde, Airdrie, Alloa, Arbroath, Ayr United, Dumbarton, East Stirlingshire,Livingston, Queen's Park, Raith Rovers, Stenhousemuir, Stirling Albion, Stranraer and even Gretna.

And there would have been for Albion Rovers, Annan, Berwick, Brechin, Cowdenbeath, East Fife, Elgin, Montrose, and Peterhead, but sadly I never had the opportunity to commentate on them in victory!

And then there was Faddy, and that wonderful night in Paris in 2007. Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! Indeed!

In the midst of the joy there were a few walks with the "black dog". But together we made it! And I can't thank you enough for that.

SANE do great work for men and women, young and old, and many who share our love of the beautiful game.

The tragic loss of Ian Redford and many others underlines just why we need to back more #BlackDogs on our streets.

Please give what you can afford. "Dug" is going to happen. Thank You.

Best Wishes

David
