Story
Hello
A massive thanks to all those who have encouraged, supported or sponsored me so far for my London Marathon run on Sunday!
It was a fantastic experience, the support from the crowds along the whole 26 mile route helped no end, there was great entertainment along the way! The streets were alive with cheering, sound systems set up on balcony's, DJ's in bus stops, full brass bands in lay-bys, rock bands outside social clubs, pub singers, entertainers and comedians on street corners! As well as a few ice cream vans which were my biggest temptation! Although the sausages, flapjack, penguin biscuits and sweets I took with me kept my stomach from rumbling along the way - topped up by even more sweets, chocolates, cakes and fruit thanks to the kindness of the general public handing out their wares on route. I didn't go hungry I can tell you! Well, it did take me nearly 5 hours! My official time was 4.50mins. My place was 24001st out of approx 36k!
I took a few photos along the way as well as a few short videos, the photos are on this site, the videos are on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/davidsvids2000
If you would like to sponsor me for a great cause, please feel free! Not only were the University of Cambridge Veterinary School Trust good enough to give me the opportunity to run the marathon for them, they also gave me a guided tour to show me at first hand, some of the pioneering research work the organisation does in veterinary medicine, disease, animal welfare and recovery. All of which goes to not only help the animals concerned, but also leads onto benefitting human medicine and disease. The prevention and cure of foot and mouth and bird flu, just a few examples of animal conditions the Schools ongoing study and research contributes to animals general heath!
