Having signed up for the London Revolution cycle ride for 'fun' - if that's what you'd call 187 miles in a weekend - I've now decided to raise a few bob for the Katharine House Hospice, Stafford, at the same time.

As part of my training I have just completed the Katharine House's own 60-miler, so that should make around 250 in total - not to mention a few miles across central London from Euston Station to the start and back again.

It should be an amazing weekend and riding alongside me (or perhaps somewhere in front) will be eldest son Daniel, who suggested it in the first place (thanks Dan!). Everybody says London will be flat, but the route includes the Chiltern hills and the famous hairpin bends of Box Hill - how will it compare with our beloved Moorlands?
