Liverpool Marathon 2011 · 9 October 2011 ·

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

I am entering the Liverpool Marathon on October 9th 2011 in loving memory of my late father Agustín Egurrola Gandiaga (1933-2009). My aim is to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Pancreatic cancer is the seventh most common cancer in the UK, and yet the five year survival rate has not changed for half a century - still a horrifying 3%. My dad died within two months of diagnosis.

UPDATE OCT 9TH: I completed the race today in a time of 4hours 23 minutes and 1 second. An unforgettable experience; joyous, moving and painful! Many thanks to everyone for your generous donations, messages of support and support on the day.
