David's Climbing Mount Blanc page

Climbing Mount Blanc · 30 July 2019
Hi,
In August I am planning to climb Europe’s Highest Mountain, Mount Blanc. At over
4,800 meters above sea level, it is almost three times the height of Ben Nevis
and twice the height of Snowdonia.
After a few days of acclimatization and practice climbs, Mount Blanc itself
should take a couple of days, weather dependent, and we will be carrying our own packs, crampons harnesses and ice axes. No Sherpa service here!
Why am I doing this?
Having spent a lot of time in Chamonix, climbing Mount Blanc has always been on the to do list. But more importantly I would like to use this as an opportunity
to raise money for the Hargreaves Lansdown Foundation and specifically Cancer Research.
There are more than 360,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year, that is nearly 990 every day.
In males in the UK, there were around 183,000 new cancer cases in 2015.
In females in the UK, there were around 177,000 new cancer cases in 2015.
Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer.
It is probably fair to say we all have a friend or family member that has been affected by this disease. Raising money for Cancer Research will help us find a
cure.
If you can spare the time and a few pounds to sponsor me, I would be
extremely grateful.
Thank you
Dave
