The Men of Steel strike again, this time as the Edgen Murray Sole Brothers in support of the unique No Beer for a Year challenge!
In May last year a dozen colleagues based at the Edinburgh office formed 3 teams and “competed” in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF), in an effort to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support. This year, on Sunday 26 May 2013 fourteen Sole Brothers will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in support of the No Beer For a Year challenge.
Our colleague, Graeme Cadger, has taken on this unusual challenge with the goal of raising £25,000 for Arthritis Research UK. This is a cause that is very close to Graeme’s heart as Year 2013 marks the 25th Anniversary of his sister Lorraine’s death, who at age 14th was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and sadly passed away at age 32 after an 18 year battle. Last year Graeme lost another friend who suffered from the same deadly disease for over 30 years. After seeing firsthand the pain and suffering of both Lorraine and Tom, Graeme decided to take on this unique fundraising challenge in order to raise £25,000 for Arthritis Research.
Graeme has stated: ‘In the event that I do not complete the challenge I pledge to personally double all donations made!!!’
The Sole Brothers running to support the No Beer for a Year challenge are: Chris Aitken, Dean Anderson, Simon Appleby, Vipin Balakrishnan, James Fisken, Eric Gibson, David Jack, Dougie Mosley, Andrew Ramage, Steven Roper, David Tierney, Gregg Watson, Chris Welsh and Peter Wilson.
