Story

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

Basically, I'm running the 10k because I want to (and because I'm ancient and feel I should).  I haven't run one for about 2 decades when I ran one in Kent with virtually no training, went off at a ridiculous pace, blew up half way around, and walked over the line in about 1 hr 2 mins.  Hopefully, this time around the wisdom of age will counteract the decrepit nature of my body, and having done a fair bit of running recently (averaging 20k a week since Christmas) I should be able to sneak inside the hour (my only real goal) without too much trouble (I've ran a couple of full distances and 57-58 minutes has been ticked off).

Anyway, seeing I am running it, I thought I might as well try and raise a couple of quid for charity.  Therefore I'm raising whatever I can for Breast Cancer Care.  As some of you will know, my lovely Sue got this disease in 2006.  After surgery and treatment (she continues to take medication which carries life altering side effects) she is still firing on all cylinders nearly 12 years on.  As she trained to become a counsellor, she wrote a dissertation on Breast Cancer in younger women (if anyone is interested in this, please drop me a line), and she continues to do volunteer work with Breast Cancer Care, working particularly with younger women who have the disease.  The very least I can do is shake a bucket and hope a few pennies go in it which will assist in that valuable and important work.

If you're in Chester on the morning of the 4th, please feel free to come and laugh and point.
