Story

Hello there I am David Liddell, I am 29 years old and live in Glasgow.

During lockdown in April, my little nephew Declan was born in Aberdeenshire and welcomed into my big sisters family with so much love from everyone.

Unexpectedly, baby Declan passed away at only 7 weeks old due to the unknown cause classed as "cot death". He didn't have a chance at life and due to lockdown none of the extended family got to meet him apart from through windows and facetime calls. That aside we all had an instant love for his cute wee face.

This was a tragic time in life for my Sister, Partner & Declan's 3 Brothers&Sisters. The Scottish Cot Death Trust is now providing fantastic support to them and many others across the country.

I have always wanted to do a charity event and never got round to doing one. It only feels right for me to try to give back something to this charity for supporting my close family.

I have been a keen barefoot waterskier for many years, after being taught by my father at 16 and brought up on the Loch since birth.

Barefoot skiing is normally done in "runs" of approximately 30-60 seconds and you have to stop to have a rest, due to the energy it takes.

So I am going to attempt to do a sheer endurance challenge of barefoot skiing a marathon of 26 miles on Loch Lomond. This will involve huge amounts of training and endurance. This will be the toughest challenge I have ever done.

The Ski Will start at Balloch and take me all the way to the top of loch Lomond at Arduli and then back down the loch a few miles to hit the 26-mile target. This will approximately an hour to complete @40mph on my bare feet.

This is a big challenge, for a big cause that is very close to my heart and the funds raised will help many that are in the same tragic situation as my sister.

So if you'd be so kind to make a donation please remember and select the "gift aid" and help me smash the target

Your donation will not only support families that have lost young innocent lives but also importantly raise awareness to help prevent these tragedies.

Please share this unique event with your friends & family & on social media.

Id like to thank everyone on behalf of my family and others receiving the support from this trust for your support.
