At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I am running the South Coast Challenge, an off-road 100km Ultra-marathon along the South Downs Way, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. This is way further than I have ever run before (21km, 3 years ago) so this is why I am doing it:

Dementia is a devastating disease which my family has experienced first-hand. The Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity and has two main aims:

  • To support people suffering from dementia, and their families, friends and carers
  • To fund research into the cause, cure and prevention of dementia.

The money I raise will help fund their vital work.

The run is in memory of my Nan, Beryl, who died earlier this year with advanced dementia.

More information on dementia and the Alzheimer's Society can be found here, and information about the South Coast Challenge here.

Thank you for your support.
