Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in memory of Dr. David Shooman

Dear Friends and all those of you whose hearts will be touched by what you will read next,
Many of you will remember "Shooey" (David Shooman). Remember his zest for life? The curtains… and the ripped T-shirts?
For those of you who don’t already know, Shooey was critically injured whilst cycling to his place of work in 2011 and tragically, succumbed to his injuries 20 months later.
Following his Management Sciences Degree, David realised that he wanted to be a doctor, a psychiatrist. As a brilliant, hard-working student, he was accepted into the top of medical residency, Neurosurgery. He practiced for two years, but something was missing. He felt Israel was his real home.
At a pre-Aliyah reception, hosted by the Israeli Ambassador, Shooey was given the honour of addressing the crowd – but really, it was the crowd that had the honour of witnessing such aspiration and inspiration.
“What had previously meant the world to me, could only retain its meaning if it could be done in Hebrew, in Israel, treating people like my sister, her children, and maybe, I hope, my children, too.”
David embarked on his Aliyah and soon after, met and married the love of his life, Tali. He also arranged for his other love, Eden, his most loyal 4-legged friend, to join them.
At the time of the accident, Tali was pregnant with their son Gur. I met Gur for the first time at the beginning of the year. He is just like his father in many ways, even at the tender of age of 4.
We are fundraising for an MDA Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in Shooey’s name, just like the one that attended to him at the scene of the accident, saving lives in the State of Israel - Home to Gur, Tali, David’s sister Jo and her family and David’s mother Bernice.
But your assistance is needed.
Please help to fund this project. Please share this with as many people as you can - with those who knew Shooey and with those who didn’t - so that Dr. David Shooman’s wish of treating the people of Israel can continue to be fulfilled for many years to come.
Together, we have the power to support the realization of a young man’s dream.
Thank you!
