Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for sponsoring me for the marathon, not only did it give me additional motivation to keep going in the training runs in the winter and the painful miles on the day, but more importantly, it will make a huge difference to the charity and lives of others.

It was an amazing day! I managed to get around in 4h07'  which I'm delighted with! It also included a stop at 11 miles. It was Jadzia's birthday and when I saw the big red balloon (so I would not miss them) I started  to get the
Happy Birthday poster out of my pocket and ran down the street with it aloft, I give everyone a quick (sweaty) hug and then got everyone in the crowd to sing a rousing chorus of happy birthday, to much embarrassment.

Everyone told me the crowd will see you over the last 5 miles; I was not sure how that would happen but the tip to have my name on my shirt paid off, the constant cheering of 'Come-on David!' that I heard for four hours was a huge factor in making it to the end.  Even a playful sarcastic 'Hey David - Looking good!' at mile 22 - when it felt like i had started to run in treacle, my head was lolling, my eyes struggling to focus - brought back a smile and a realisation that I had four more miles to go, only four more to go...

One of my friends at work me crossing the line on TV, it looked like I  was strolling but this was the final push to the finish line!!! It then took 30 mins to walk about 500m down The Mall to meet Georgia and take on the next challenge of a flight of steps down into the tube.

Having been given this opportunity it allowed me to raise ALOT of money for a great institution that carries out wonderful work at the Neruo rehabilitation unit at Buckinghamshire.
Thank you for the sponsorship once again!
