Story
So I'm doing something about it.
This month I've signed up for two 10KM runs plus a Half Marathon. The first one is tomorrow. I am running in all 3 events in memory of my father who died of prostate cancer last month and to help raise cancer awareness and funds for research.
Around 900 people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer every single day. If you are fortunate enough not to have lost someone dear to you to cancer, you probably know someone who's has contracted one form or another of the disease.
The good news as that on-going research and development means more people are cured or live longer. It is absolutely essential for all of us.
I want to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research. And I'm asking you for your support and encouragement.
I'm off the booze all through September. I've joined the gym, got a personal trainer, running 3 times a week and eating spinach and brocholi every day! I'm working HARD! My goal is to smash my previous personal bests in each run! I aim to complete the Half Marathon in under 1.5 hours - that's means I've got to knock 12 minutes off last year's time (which was 1:41:16). That's a bloody lot!! :-/
My September runs:
Sun 9 - Mayor's Charity Fun Run, Enfield (10K)
Sun 23 - Challenge 2012, Central London (10K)
Sun 30 - Bristol Half Marathon (21K)
Please feel free to donate as much or as little as you want. There is no pressure. £2 or £5 would be great. But if you can push it up to £20 or more, even better! It's a great cause that benefits everyone.
Thank you all in advance!! :-)
This is for you Dad!
