Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Dad, Peter Sanderson, was diagnosed with Parkinson's on 23 January 2014. Since that time I have seen him change both physically and mentally. Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.
Parkinson's develops when cells in the brain stop working properly and are lost over time. These brain cells produce a chemical called dopamine.
Symptoms start to appear when the brain can’t make enough dopamine to control movement properly. There are 3 main symptoms - tremor (shaking), slowness of movement and rigidity (muscle stiffness) - but there are many other symptoms too. For my Dad, it's feeling unbalanced and liable to fall at any time that are his life-changing symptoms.
The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. But we know that more than 1 million people in the UK are affected, either by living with Parkinson’s, or as a friend, colleague, or family member of someone who is.

This is why we are walking 42kms (26.3 miles) of the Jurassic Coastline - from Corfe Castle to Durdle Door , on Saturday 22nd May. We want to push ourselves in the hope we will raise lots of money for this cause. Through our suffering one hell of a day's walk, we hope to reduce the suffering from this life-changing condition.
