Dad's story began early 2011. He was just heading towards semi retirement having worked long and hard for 50years to give his family everything.

In the January of 2011 while renovating my clinic both dad and I were taken ill with Swine Flu, over the following month I got better but Dad just seemed to go down hill, after many visits to the GP and hospital he was rushed to A&E on February the 7th and after several hours of tests we were told he had a mass on his brain, everything possible was being done but the next 24hours were critical.

It is thanks to one consultant at Sheffield Hallamshire that we had 13 more precious months with dad, no one else thought it was viable to operate on dad's tumour (glioblastoma multiforme) but Mr Thomas Carroll, Consultant Neurosurgeon decided dad was worth a chance. Dad actually had 6 fairly good months spending time with his family and friends that meant the most to him.

Sadly dad couldn't fight his tumour, we were given the news that further surgery wasn't safe for him and slowly he lost his fight for life after another 7 months on the 18th March 2012 aged 65years.

It was at the last appointment dad had with Mr Carroll that we learned about the Fanconi Hope Charity and his research into both Fanconi Anaemia and Brain Tumours. As a family we decided it was only fitting to donate monies in lieu of flowers to Fanconi Hope Charity to show our appreciation. We put this generosity along with monies raised by the local Chapel fundraiser and Girl Guides plus very generous donations from many of my patients.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind generosity and unfailing support. We will endeavour to try and raise more funds.
