Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
Osteoporosis means"porous bones."The disease occurs when the structure of the bones become thin causing bones to become fragile and break easily.Hip fractures cause more than 1150 premature deaths each month in the UK.
One in two women and one in five men over 50 will break a bone mainly due to poor bone health. We need to work towards a break-free future where people with fragile bones do not suffer from this crippling debilitation.
Having family members with this illness I understand how crippling and painful the disease can be. Fractures in the spine usually occur in the lower or upper area of the back. Bones become squashed or compressed or may crumble due to their reduced strength, so causing severe pain. Although bones heal, they do not return to their previous shape. This can mean height loss or curvature of the spine.
Your donations will go towards the continuation of vital research projects into why and how this condition occurs and towards prevention and cure. Quality research could help eradicate preventable fractures completely.
