Story
Hello!
Thank you for visiting my page.
I appreciate that loads of people ask for donations for all kinds of personal challenges and I have to admit that putting myself out there, cap in hand, is a little out side of my comfort zone. To anyone who’s had to write one of these “just-begging” bios I congratulate you on doing so. Its certainly more challenging than I thought it would be!
So aside from the difficult task of rationalizing and expressing my reasons for taking on such a massive challenge, I’ve also been training hard so that I can complete an IRONMAN event.
If you’re not familiar with IRONMAN, it is a race consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run. Just over 140 miles altogether. No rest and it must be done in less than 17 hours. IRONMAN events take place on the most scenic and challenging landscapes around the world – Naturally I'm competing in Bolton England. The event takes place on August 4
For the last year I’ve completely embraced the weird world of Endurance Triathlon. I even waxed my legs. My entire life evolves around Swimming, Running and Cycling (and trying to run a business, be a step Dad and not to loose contact with all my friends!)
Those of you who know me will no doubt be bemused as to why a man with legs the size of a small girls and a running style which has been described as to that of a “disabled gazelle” would even consider running a marathon. Let alone prefixing it with a massive bike ride and especially seeing as a year ago I could barely swim. You’re not alone I assure you.
I decided to enter IRONMAN before I thought about raising money for Cancer Research. It was personal challenge I had goaded myself into for reasons I am starting to question. After I realised how much time I would be spending away from my friends and my family I felt that my own personal reasons weren’t enough. So I decided to make it worthwhile and do it for charity too. I’ve already paid my entrance fee for the events and so raising any amount of money is a big bonus for me and you can be sure that every penny you donate goes to the charity.
I chose cancer research because some of my closest friends and family have been affected by cancer. It seemed to me an obvious choice and cancer research is one of the leading charities in the area. They do fantastic work and I really hope that you will support me in raising as much money as I can.
Thank you once again for taking the time to read this, please share and like my pages on facebook - i need all the help i can get!
Much love xx
