Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In September Glen Webb and I are running The Great North Run. We are running for an incredible charity called Team Verrico, which is local to where we both live. Running a half marathon my not be the greatest endurance test, but it’s an event where I can raise two fingers to Cancer, continue my recovery and hopefully raise a few quid. We hope to raise £750, so any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Why Team Verrico, I hear you ask? Firstly, it is local charity and the work they do for Cancer research is just one string to their bow. Verrico do a fantastic job in counselling, from my personal experience no one prepares you for this stage, you can try to prepare yourself for the treatment and recovery, but this stage can never be underestimated. Those who have had cancer or know someone with cancer will understand. Finally, this charity help out with the little things, things which may seem trivial to someone, such as childcare, transport, cleaning but when you are going through this hell it’s a massive help.
What I’m trying to say is that when I was suffering, there was lots of support out there from friends and family, but looking at the bigger picture there were people from all walks of life who helped, some I didn’t know, all played a positive part in my treatment, recovery and ongoing support. I just want to put something back and help others realise they are not alone.
Glen Webb is one of many, that has been with me every step of the way and it seemed appropriate to drag his sorry arse around with me (That alone is worth a few quid). Please support us with anything that you can give and please feel free to share.
