Dean's page- Ride London- 100miles

Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 2018 · 29 July 2018 ·
This is an attempt to complete the 100 mile Ride London challenge in July 2018. This is a 100 mile cycle across London starting at the Olympic stadium, into the Surrey hills before crossing the line in the streets of central London.
For people that know me I am incredibly ambitious and won’t step down from a challenge especially one which is physical. I specifically wanted to challenge myself by doing something out of my comfort zone while all in the name of a good cause. It is going to be a tough course with continuous cycling up to 8 hours.
As much as this being a physical effort, it will also be a mental struggle to power on when cycling through some the highest points in the south east. Not to mention the long training sessions ahead of me to prepare and races leading up to it.
So why am I doing this?
In short I want to support the charity MIND, raise awareness towards the great support that they offer, and help bring an end to the stigma that is attached to those who suffer from mental health problems.
I personally lost a very close friend to depression and some the closest people in my life have endured the pain that mental health can bring. Since all of this my awareness has grown and seeing so many young people enduring mental health problems is something I am passionate to address so everyone can speak out without stigma. Mental health is the leading cause of death in young people and this is something that can be avoided with increased awareness and more help being made available.
There are those who are not so fortunate to have the same level of support and understanding. They suffer in silence and are alone.
This challenge is for those people.
Thank you in advance for donating, as it shows to me your continued support for this cause. I could ramble on about all the issues that face those who suffer or have suffered from mental health problems and the campaigning work completed by MIND. But I could never match the MIND website for content. Please do take a look here http://www.mind.org.uk/news-campaigns/ and see what you are supporting with me.
