The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Earlier this year I was invited to present the awards at the Prince's Trust Get Into Cars event in Glasgow. It's one of many schemes the charity runs to help disaffected young people get into work and training. It was inspiring to see the work the charity does and the difference it makes to so many lives. Young people who, for one reason or another, feel that they've got no chance of making anything of themselves are shown that given the right opportunity they can do anything they set their mind to.

The charity's spirit and ethos was infectious and just a few months later I was signed up as an ambassador.

In all the enthusiasm of my new role I signed myself up for my first big fundraiser - the BlueSky challenge. It's an 8 hour, 40km challenge including running, mountain biking, body boarding, orienteering and aerial assaults and we'll be competing against more than 30 teams to complete the course in as quick a time as possible. Check out the website to see the full scale of the madness http://www.blueskychallenge.co.uk/

My first big challenge was getting my team together. Knowing that Tom's wife Mandy had recently auditioned for the Gladiators he was my first port of call. Get Tom, get Mandy was the thinking. Sorry Tom!

I then had to seek a fourth member and with 2 weeks to go managed to sign up my boyfriend Ross. This should be a  test for our relationship!

So on September the 18th at 8.30am the four of us will be let loose on the hills and in the waters of Perthshire for what will be an exhilirating, exhausting and no doubt very entertaining day of adventures!

Driving us all through the various challenges will be the thought that we are doing it for such a worthy cause so if you could dig deep and donate to the cause it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
