Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you know I am travelling to Sierra Leone, West Africa as a volunteer for VSO. From March I will be in placement as a midwife in a community hospital there. 

In Sierra Leone, one in eight women risk dying during pregnancy or childbirth. This is one of the highest maternal death rates in the world. A drastic shortage of healthcare professionals in Sierra Leone means it is very difficult to improve the situation. Through volunteering  I hope to share knowledge and skills with people there, and make some difference to the maternity care women receive.

 I am aiming to raise £1500, this is not to support my placement, it is to support the work of VSO and their work to fight poverty in countries like Sierra Leone.  Any donations that people can make would be very much appreciated.
