Deborah's talent round at Warrior Charity Beauty Pageant

Warrior Charity Beauty Pageant · 28 March 2020
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
My name is Deborah and I am the reining Ms Stockport Galaxy 2019/20 on the road to the grand finals of the prestigious Ms Galaxy UK beauty pageant finals on March 13th. I am also a former competitive gymnast of Stockport School of Gymnastics from the age of 9 through to 17 years old
I have decided to support my good friend Jessica with her charity pageant that links to her platform of invisible illness and it's called Warrior Charity Pageant on the 28th March. I chose to participate in the pageant where contestants can raise awareness of their own invisible illnesses
50% of all funds raised will be split between Jessica's chosen charities that have supported her during her invisible illness IBD and surgery (Crohns and Colitis UK, Colostomy UK and Purple Wings) with the
remaining 50% being split between the charities chosen by the contestants to support their illnesses
The invisible illness is that I suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This is a common hormonal disorder that affects ovaries in women during childbearing years with more than 20,000 cases per year in UK. It's one of the most common causes of female infertility and many side effects caused by PCOS including depression, anxiety and mood swings that affect your confidence and self-esteem
My chosen charity to raise funds for is Stockport Woman's Centre. They are charity based and offer a full range of services and acknowledged, respected and valued by the local community. They are the leading provider of innovative support services and therapeutic treatments for women
I suffered with depression and sought help from Stockport Woman's Centre and they were amazing and worked hard to make me become more confident and not allow the darkness of depression over shadow me
One of the rounds at the charity pageant will consist of talent and therefore I chose to dust off my leotards from back in the day and head to the gym to put together a floor routine. The routine I have chosen to do goes along to a piece of music from Michal Flatley's 'Lord of the Dance' and is called Siamsa. Not only have I been retired from gymnastics for 15 years, this routine was created by myself over 20 years ago and performed for several years
