Tony Baldwin, also known as ‘Big dog’ and ‘Biffa’ for his renowned ability to give a golf ball a bit of a whollop with a wood, was a kind, big hearted gent who was loved by so many and in so many ways. Tony was an incredible husband, step father, grandfather and friend to many people who all feel such a sad loss since he closed his eyes for his final rest after such a heartbreaking battle.
Tony was diagnosed with Myelodosplastic Syndrome (MDS) In April 2018 and this sadly transformed into Accute Myeloid Leukaemia which took his life on the 25th July 2018.
My mother, Linda, has previously been involved in a lot of charity work for cancer research as this is a cause close to our hearts as a family. Following Tony’s diagnosis, he had a strong desire to become involved in charity work himself alongside mum in the hope that together they can support the aid given to children and their families where a similar diagnosis is made as they both believed as difficult as his journey had become, that children are our future. It is for this reason, we would welcome a donation in lieu of flowers in his memory to a cause so close to his heart.
