Dr Deirdre Heavens passed away on Thursday 21st June 2018 after a long battle with cancer. She was a wonderful mother, loving wife, amazing Aunty, caring friend and dedicated local historian. She was loved dearly by so many and will be forever missed.

During her illness, both she and her family spent time on Somersham Ward and at the Woolverstone Day Unit at Ipswich Hospital, where the support and care of everyone there meant so much. They looked after her with compassion, dedication and kindness, and made sure her last days were comfortable and dignified.
