Deni and Kingsleigh Challenge Side saddle 2019 page

Challenge Side saddle 2019 · 27 January 2019
I have decided to welcome in the new year by taking part in the challenge Side saddle 2019, a flat 7 furlong side saddle dash.
Those that know me, will not be surprised to hear that I have taken up the challenge of yet another side saddle race. I will be riding Kingsleigh who I have had since a 6 month runty foal, aledgedly he is 19 this year, luckily he can’t read his passport and kings thinks he is 10! In the past kings and I have partnered ourselves and taken part in the Diana’s of the Chase race, the Isle of Wight hunt scurry twice and two other point to point side saddle dashes. Both astride and aside we have also hunted with 17 different packs of hounds (at last count) and on a couple of occasions kings has even carried the horn and hunted hounds.
To say Kingsleigh is my best freind would not be an understatement, he always knows best, always has the last word and on several occasions has always been right when we have had arguments over whether to jump the hedge or the rail...he will always go hedge every time!
This will be a journey over the next month to test my fitness as in the last day of last season whilst out with hounds aside, I broke the tibia in my right leg. We popped a rail and in his enthusiasm to get to the feild master, kings very kindly took the short route into a tree trunk! I got back aside two weeks ago, so with Christmas now out of the way the training proper now starts. Luckily kings has been hunting fit since August, waiting for my leg to recover.
Although we may not be the fastest on the day, kings has the heart of a lion and the temperament of the man you hope your daughter will bring home, I know when I am boxing up at the end of the day, I will in my eyes, be taking home the winner.
