Story
Hello My Dear Friends,
As some of you will be aware by now I am completing a Firewalk in aid of the Yorkhill Childrens Foundation on the 27th of November 2009. Taking part in this ultimate challenge will involve testing my already wee stressed out mind and body against a 20ft-Long bed of wood embers burning at 1236 degrees Fahrenheit! (I just googled this and that is 668.8 degrees Celsius, Oouch!) The powers that be tell me this will be an unforgettable experience which will leave me feeling motivated and empowered. (Dead more like, I suspect the motivational and empowerment issues refer to the spectators only!)
Joking aside, in addition to the great support the Yorkhill Childrens Foundation has given towards my own research and that of many of my colleagues, more importantly the charity plays a very important role in supporting the many children and their families who for one reason or another have to spend extended periods of time in Yorkhill hospital. To date my close alies Maureen and Saeeda have been very kindly fundraising on my behalf and at last glance I was just over our halfway fundraising target. My good friend Susie who is about to discover whilst reading this that she too has very kindly agreed to film my imminent demise!
If you feel you are in a position to be able to help the Yorkhill Childrens Foundation whilst additionally sponsoring my imminent death through a burning inferno, please “Fire” ahead! I have chosen to keep this site anonymous so I will not know if you decide to make a donation nor will I know how much you donate, though “every little helps” (I hope Tesco do not have a registered trademark on that expression!) In any case I love you all anyways and consider myself very lucky to have you all as my friends.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Denise
