Story

Paul and I decided to take part in the Scottish half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK after discussing how often this disease is affecting families. The charity don't receive Government funding so every donation really makes a difference. Any amount you could spare would be greatly appreciated : )

As well as raising money, we'd like to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. As the symptoms (e.g. persistent bloating, pelvic pain, extreme fatigue, urinary frequency, changes in bowel habit) can be caused by other conditions it is commonly diagnosed at an advanced stage, as was the case with my mum. There is currently no reliable screening for this type of cancer so it is crucial people educate themselves about the symptoms: https://www.targetovariancancer.org.uk/information-and-support/what-ovarian-cancer/ovarian-cancer-symptoms.
