Lee's Thames Marathon Challenge

As some of you know in February this year I had to undergo my second back operation! At the time it was a huge blow personally knowing it would be another year of recovering! So I decided I needed to set myself a goal something to keep me focussed and driving forward, I signed up for the Thames Marathon swim a 14k swim from Henley to Marlow on the 4th August. I had total of 6 months to get my back and body in shape.
Of course just about everyone thought I was completely mad - which i probably am but if you know me it wouldn’t surprise most of u!! So here we are less than a week to go and I am ready!!
I have so many people to thank - firstly my incredibly supportive husband, Richard, who never stops believing in me, my swim buddy Liz Hayes, its all because of your incredible support and your very cheerful but firm motivation that has got me here! My bestie Debbie Vanner who has always been there for me through thick and thin and helped me understand how to train for an endurance event like this. Also, my incredible Physio Angela (From Physiolistic in Henley) who has expertly encouraged and guided me through my recovery!! And of course to all of the beautiful people in my life who have loved and supported me through this year!! I am so humbled and grateful x
I am raising money for a charity in South Africa which is very close to my heart. The White Lion Trust who work tirelessly to save the white lions of the Timbavati, and indeed all the lions of Africa! Rich and worked out there for a year and saw firsthand the amazing work they do. I am also now a Trustee and continue to support their efforts.
