Story
Hi All
If you know me, you know I love to run and I am a massive
athletics fan!
My journey began 2018 while watching the London marathon I
cried at the thought of running it and entered the ballot that day. On
Oct 9th, 2019 I opened my mail to find I had won a ballot place in the 2020
London marathon. I was over the moon with excitement, I always knew I had
to do this. It’s been a long road since then, I have effectively trained
3 times for this, completing the virtual marathon in Oct 2020. So approx.
2000 miles later, finally the real day is approaching, and I am excited and
somewhat glad it’s nearly done. I have worked so hard, and I am way too
familiar with ‘the wall’. I am so grateful for the support of my family,
my friends and my work colleagues that have had to listen to me rant about
running!
I have chosen to support the A-T charity. I know
normally people have a personal connection to a charity but for me it was a
chance meeting that I think was meant to be. I was locked out my office
and a kind lady from the next office door came to chat to me and she told me
all about the A-T. I was really taken by what Susie said and I knew there
and then I was going to run 26.2 miles for A-T.
Ataxia-Telangiectasia (“A-T”) is a complex genetic disease
which affects many parts of the body and causes severe disability. The symptoms
include lack of balance, slurred speech and more than normal infections. The
A-T Society is a small national charity unique to the UK in the services it
offers families. The Society’s objective is to alleviate the distress and
suffering caused by A-T. The A-T Society provides support services for
families, funds research and specialist A-T clinics, and helps raise awareness.
Please help if you can.
Thank you so much.
