I really enjoy being outdoors and in particular spending my spare time in the mountains when I can. Late last year I set myself the goal that in 2017 I would summit Mont Blanc at 4,800 metres. As part of my training I completed the Quest Glendalough Challenge a few months ago by taking part in the 41km distance challenge. I intend to finish off the year off by competing in Quest Killarney Challenge entering in the 55km distance challenge. As many of you may be aware but for those who do not, the past 8 years have been pretty tough on my Dad. He went to hospital for a very common operation and it was expected that it would take him 6 weeks to recover. However he suffered numerous complications following the operation and was left in hospital for 10 months trying to build up the strength to come home. Miraculously and with great determination on his part he made it home on the day of his 70th birthday in 2010 but left without his kidneys. Hence he needs dialysis and takes 3 trips per week to the hospital for treatment to keep him going. The Irish Kidney Association have been very good to my Dad ever since and I have decided to try and do some good by using my quest to summit Mount Blanc and other events to raise much needed funds for the Irish Kidney Association. Hence I have set up a fundraising page and I would very grateful for any contributions to this fund. ALL EXPENSES to take part in the events are being paid by myself personally so ALL MONEY DONATED will go directly to the Kidney Association. Please give generously.
