For those of you that knew him personally, you will know what a wonderful person he was. Dermot was full of life, laughter and love – it is almost unbearable to think that we will not see his huge smile or hear his booming voice again. He truly was larger than life, a colossus, able to fill any room with happiness and joy. We will miss him terribly but are taking great solace in the legacy he has left behind. More than anything, Dermot was a bloody great father, husband, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him, a role model and someone we will always be proud of. He is probably the greatest exponent I know of making sure you enjoy life as much as you can, while you can. He only got 67 years but he fitted a hell of a lot into them.
