Story

The Project

We are making a collaborative patchwork quilt from recycled fabrics donated by the community. The aim of this project is to work together and raise awareness for the Love Fashion Hate Sweatshops campaign. This campaign, led by War on Want is taking action against companies profiting from sweatshop labour and exposing the violation of women workers. By making this quilt from recycled fabrics we can raise money and show our support to women garment workers. Once finished this quilt will be sold and 100% of the money will be donated to War On Want.

How you can get involved:

You can support this project by either donating money, fabric remnants or old clothes.

Sponsor us and Donate Money

If you can't donate fabrics but would like to support this project you can make a donation online or via text. If you would like to donate cash instead, please email and we can arrange. All money will be donated to War On Want.

Donate fabrics to be sewn into the patchwork quilt. We are looking for greys, blues, whites, denims, reds and blacks. We also want a few prints but only simple designs in similar colours so it works with the aesthetic. The fabric remnants you have can be any size, as we will cut them into patches of 11x11 inch. If they are smaller than this we will make a design of smaller pieces to create a patch- please see photos as an example. To donate fabrics you can either:

Drop off at our shop space,  Snoopers Attic: 7 Kensington Gardens, Brighton BN1 4AL

or alternatively you can post to our office at: 33 Kensington Gardens, BN1 4AL

Make your own patch. If you want to design a patch yourself, you can make one and donate the finished square. This will then be sewn into the quilt.

The finished project

Once finished, this quilt will be sold and 100% of the money, plus any donations will go to War On Want. We will make sure to include everyone's name that took part on the quilt's tag and our fundraiser page.

*Exciting Update*

We will be collaborating with a visual artist and exhibiting the finished quilt before it goes on sale. This installation will be for night only and a chance for people to see the final piece. Details to follow.
