Saturday 28th July 2018... I could be luxuriating with a glass of Champagne. Or having my extensions blow dried. Or having my nails done. Or shopping til I drop...
But no chaps, on Saturday 28th July 2018 I’ve decided to spend the day scrambling over obstacles, getting utterly soaked from head to toe and spluttering about in huge puddles of mud. Lots of mud. Dirty, smelly, EVIL mud!
Those who know me well will know that I haven’t had an easy time over the past 12 months. But I’ve worked hard to move on from the bad times and there were two things in particular which I feel truly saved me from despair. Fitness... and my little ball of love Dexter Augustus Jones (The First!)
Embarking on a fitness journey has truly opened my mind and made me feel so much better about just about everything, and as for Dexter... we rescued him in January and he has brought such joy and laughter to my life. I have never felt happier!
Battersea have always inspired me. Dexter is our second rescue dog, and our beloved Sam (who sadly passed away last December) actually spent Christmas there before we were blessed with having him in our lives for ten years. The dedication and care from the staff is astounding and without Battersea, so many dogs would never have had their happy ending. And we all deserve a happy ending.
In recognition of the work they do and to support their cause, Dexter and I are taking on the Muddy Dog Challenge in Peterborough. 2.5km of hideous-sounding obstacles, mainly involving mud, mud and more mud! We’ve got a six week training schedule to make sure we’re both as fit as we can be (no more share boxes for us for the time being!) and although I’m sure Dexter will love getting his snowy white fur filthy, an obstacle course and getting covered in dirt is certainly not my idea of a Saturday treat! But we’re going to go for it, we’re going to take on the challenge, wade through that nasty mud and smash every single obstacle!
However small, we would be grateful for any donations, and we promise not to let you down!
I.must.be.bloody.mad!
