Story
After a courageous 10 month battle with lung cancer, our dear Mum, Diane Elizabeth Regan, sadly passed away on Friday 28th August 2020 with her two children by her side, cuddling her and holding her hands as she peacefully slipped away.
Born in Ilford, Essex in April 1947, to George and Hilda Regan, Diane was the middle sibling of three. She had a passion for art and drawing however circumstance led her to work her way up the recruitment ladder where she founded her recruitment firm, Aston Personnel/Elite, in Maidenhead in 1978, which she ran for almost 40 years. Clients will remember her “pulling a rabbit out of the hat” for a last minute temp booking. Many will fondly remember her fun and intelligent wit, and popping in to her office for a glass of wine and a chat at the end of a working week.
As a full-time working mother of two, Daniel, 40, and Gemma, 39, from her first marriage, Diane strived to provide the very best for them throughout the years. After the divorce from her second marriage, she later became a cherished grandmother to Tori and Alannah. Aside from her family, she had a passion for racing around in her convertible, gardening, cruising, looking out to sea with an ouzo in Samos and, always, a large, crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
Throughout her life, and also her illness, Diane‘s mind was strong and her positive and upbeat attitude was inspired. Proof of her physical strength was clear after she contracted and fought off Covid-19 in April. Despite her gruelling battle with cancer, which vigorously spread across her body, she remained lighthearted and humourous to the end.
We’re very grateful to all who supported Mum during her final months and hope you’ll join us in remembering her for the spirited, enduring and unique character she was. Instead of flowers, Mum wished for donations to be made to Cancer Research UK. Thank you.
