In February this year, and just pre-lockdown, I was given a second cancer diagnosis (the first was 25 years ago). This has stopped me running at least whilst in treatment but has not stopped me MOVING. In fact, with my lovely dog, I have covered over 500 miles on the six feet we have between us since February, and hopefully we’ll cover a lot more together too 😊

Amidst all of this, I had plenty of time to think about how fabulous it would be to set up an event (a proper one, with bling & other interesting stuff!!), that could involve all three parts our club (Seniors, Juniors and All sorts), to raise money for the charity ‘MOVE – 5k Your Way.’ I love the ethos and remit of this organisation, which briefly are to help people to “Move against Cancer.” They do this in several ways, including via Parkrun, and you can check this out for yourself using the link: https://movecharity.org/

So… A small group of us, representing the three parts of our club (Seniors, Juniors and All sorts beginners/intermediates group have worked hard to make this happen. We now have the the necessary permissions to host a Covid-friendly, 24 hour-event on 3^rd
& 4^th October 2020, which we’ve called  ‘The Magic Run.’

Lastly, here's a little about the charity itself: "Being diagnosed with cancer means people face an extremely tough journey. There is so much thrown at you both physically and mentally during treatment and it doesn’t just stop there.MOVE is embarking on a mission to inspire people to #MoveAgainstCancerMOVE provide practical and online support to people living with and beyond cancer. We focus our services on children and young people living with and beyond cancer and also a wider age range through our new 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer initiative linked to parkrun."
