Towards the end of last year mine and my family’s lives were turned upside down when my Dad was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It came as an enormous shock but what’s even scarier is that it’s highly likely he would not have gone to the Doctors if it hadn’t been for me and my Mum constantly nagging him!

As soon as the GP felt the lump he was referred immediately and within days was being told he had the ‘Big C’. Fortunately in my Dad’s case it was detected in time and had not spread. 

 

Though my Dad is still recovering from surgery, on daily medication and has to have 6 monthly check-ups he’s still here. Thousands of people are battling and / or losing their fight to this horrendous disease every day and the impact it has on theirs and their families’ lives is incomprehensible.

 

I hereby dedicate my run to my Dad (who I love with all my heart), Dave Shaw who is currently terminally ill at home with this illness and in memory of Geoff Bourne (my closest friend’s Dad) who lost his fight to Cancer. Any donation, however small, would be hugely appreciated and hopefully with monies raised we can take that little step closer to one day curing this evil illness.
